Symphar

Category: Workplace Solution of the Year 2018
The Symphar company has chosen a prestigious location at Hala Koszyki in Warsaw for the new headquarters. The investor turned to us with the task of creating a space that will stand out from the others while not being "heavy" in reception. In addition it was necessary to emphasize the Australian roots of the company while maintaining the coherence of the office design with the atmosphere and the history of the entire Hala Koszyki facility. For this purpose the office space has been divided into a representative/reception area and conference rooms, open spaces, offices and a less formal part with a large comfortable kitchen and relaxation areas available for office employees. During the creation process it was important to maximase the usage of glazed surfaces to not to limit the users access to daylight. In order to complete the office with the requirements related to its appearance and design assumptions such materials as copper, wood, gradient wallpaper or carpets with patterns referring to the landscape of Australia were used. At the reception, relaxation area and main conference room with windows that looks out on the Koszykowa street wooden geometric ceilings were placed. Their unique shape is also visible from the street level.

Information about the architect/architectural studio We are a young agency, which has set itself the goal of combining the convenience of the end user with a proper and timeless design. At the very top we always set the client's needs without imposing our vision, so that our projects reflect the client's character .
Descritpion of individual work stations The workplaces were prepared based on the client's guidelines regarding the specifics of the work of individual company departments. The key factor was to ensure the highest ergonomics, providing each employee identical working conditions, regardless if it's a private office or an open space. Therefore we used chairs with high quality and natural materials finish with adjustable seat height and armrests. Desks have enough space for comfortable work at the computer, mobile and capacious containers are used below the worktop. Additional storage spaces are cabinets with sliding faces.
Description of the area designated for creative work In the division process of the Symphar office the key to success was to design the space in accordance with the needs of individual departments of the company. Thus we have open space workstations, cabinets, conference rooms of various sizes with non-standard, geometric plywood ceilings and informal meeting places with comfortable sofas. A kitchen, whose finishing materials ensure a warm, home-like atmosphere plays a big role in the interactions between employees in the office.
Description of relaxation area The office has a coffe point for employees with comfortable armchairs made in a high standard of finish. In the informal part of the office a relaxation area was arranged with high sofas, copper lighting and a suspended ceiling made of plywood. Despite the fact that the relaxation zones are located far from each other coherence in the arrangement of these spaces has been preserved.
Materials, furnishing elements and technology used In the interior completion we used the highest quality finishing materials, among others: Tom Dixon's floor covering and copper lights, Aquaform products, gradient wallpapers and natural wood flooring. In representative offices parts plywood geometric ceilings and copper reception desk was used. All selected materials and colors emphasize the Australian roots of the company and harmonize with its visual identity.
Office furnishing/furniture Symphar office has been furnished in a way that ensures maximum comfort without giving up the coherence of the whole design. Therefore, all the furniture, before the purchase, were carefully checked in terms of ergonomics and quality of materials. The non personalized pieces are mainly Italian furniture brand Pedralii. Many pieces of furniture were made to individual order. Among them, we can find kitchen and coffee point space in which natural materials were used.
Ecological and energy efficient features The whole Hala Koszyki office complex obtained the BREEAM certificate. Thanks to the eco-friendly solutions the operating costs has been reduced, limiting the consumption of water and electricity. In addition we used LED lighting in every point we can. Ceilings and furniture were made of natural materials. Also carpets were made partly from recycled materials.
Greenery in the office (selection of plants, patios, terraces) Greenery is used on designated places. Office space doesn't have a patio / terrace.
Description of the interior from an architectural point of view (office attractiveness, design) The Symphar company has chosen a prestigious location at Hala Koszyki in Warsaw for the new headquarters. Description of the interior in terms of its functionality and the optimisation of the office space Thanks to the minimization of the number of classic walls towards glazing a large amount of daylight is supplied even in passageways. Warm, subdued colors of the walls combined with living accents of furniture with the possibility of adapting to a specific user ensure high comfort and ergonomics of the workplace.
Additional information and justification why this project deserves to be rewarded The greatest reward for us in this project is the customer satisfaction and extolment from office visitors, as well as the employees. Any approval, even for the individual elements of the project, from so esteemed jury will be an extra joy and honor for us. Photos: Jan Karol Gołębiewski
