Office Building of the Year

The category is addressed to all office buildings in Poland which were realised and put into operation in 2016 excluding modernizations and developments.

An assessment of the quality of the architecture and urban planning, the uniqueness of the project, the use of the space, the effectiveness of the design in terms of the building’s functioning, and the environmental friendliness and economics of the approach taken. Architectural provision for the disabled would be an additional asset.

The award is presented to the relevant architect/architectural studio.

Registration deadline 25th August 2017. The registration is free of charge.

Some projects entered for the Eurobuild Awards in Architecture are still being verified. More nominations will appear on this page soon.

The Revalorisation Award

This category is for buildings – including architectural monuments, complexes of historic buildings, those that are not so historic but have important historical or cultural features, and those whose original purpose had become redundant – which were partly or entirely restored to a functioning and useable state in 2016. Revitalisation involves conservation work as well as adapting the building and introducing new elements in a way that harmonises with its historical features. The result of this should preserve and regenerate these historical and cultural assets as much as possible for the requirements of the modern user, while successfully integrating the building into its urban context.

The nominations will be judged for the quality of the construction work (particularly the exactitude and sensitivity of the conservation and restoration work), the addition of new functions while maintaining the historical character of the building, the integration of new elements with the original architectural structure, how well it has been integrated with its surrounding context, and how well the aesthetic look of the building has been preserved, including its fittings and grounds. The award will be presented to the architect/architectural studio responsible for design of the revitalisation scheme.
Registration deadline 25th August 2017. The registration is free of charge.

Eco- and User-Friendly Facility of the Year

The category includes projects that are characterised by a particular care for the natural environment through the limitation of the building’s negative impact on the natural environment and care for the health and well being of the people involved in the construction of the building and its users. Materials and eco-friendly solutions used in order to provide the optimal use of energy and water in the course of the building’s operation will be taken into consideration and obtained pro-ecological certificates (if any), eg BREEAM, LEED, GBS, DGNB, HQE together with the number of points earned and the level of certification.

The award is presented to the relevant architect/an architectural studio.

The projects taken into consideration include newly-created public areas as well as revitalised facilities: the development of post-industrial areas, markets, squares and recreational areas.
Elements assessed include the method of developing the space, the creation of spatial order, the fulfilment of public functions, the improvement of residents’ and users’ quality of life, the fulfilment of environmental requirements, the protection of environmental assets and the method in which the new area improves the attractiveness and image of the surrounding area.
